Capt Will Johnson (USCG) licensed captain,(AMSEA) certified and North Carolina native. Will, grew up in-shore and began fishing in ponds on the family farm. Made first offshore trip in 1982 from Morehead City which is now his home port. Graduated high school in 1988 and moved to South Florida where he fished for 10yrs with private and charter boats as a mate. In May of 1999 he moved to Kodiak, Alaska persuing a chance to fish aboard a Bering Sea crab boat. He made his first of 13 trips to the Bering Sea in Oct of 99' with the crab boat F/V Cougar. First as a greenhorn/baiter and finally as an engineer/deckboss. He also worked as a hunting and fishing guide there in Alaska during the summers. Finally moving to Morehead City NC in 2002 where he has fished as a mate and captain for the past 5 years. He believes in sharing his passion for all types of fishing with younger and older anglers alike. He spends much of his time, when not offshore aboard the Delta Dawn, at the Morehead City waterfront answering questions about the Delta Dawn and fishing. He welcomes anyone who would like to talk about his favorite subject to stop by and share some fishing stories the next time they are on the MHC waterfront.
